Book Review: Secrets of a Summer Night
Secrets of a Summer Night is the first in Lis Kleypas' Wallflower series. The Wallflowers are a group of four women who have spent the entire London social season as wallflowers, and who have determined to work together to marry each other off, one at a time. The heroine of this story is Annabelle. She comes from a titled family, but her father died yejavascript:void(0)ars ago and there is no money left. Her family is counting on her to marry well so her husband can support them. However, the men aren't interested in her as a wife--though since this is her fourth season, some are considering her as a mistress. The hero is the son of a butcher, but one who has grown rich on his own work. Yea, its a romance novel; guess what happens?
Like Kleypas' other books this one has vividly described sexual scenes. As a romance, the plot is pretty predictable but the characters are well developed. Kleypas is become a favorite of mine.
