Book Review: Messy Tessy

Messy Tessy is my five year old's new favorite bedtime story. Tessy is left home with her favorite aunt while her mother goes to the gym. Aunt Fran falls asleep on the couch and so Tessy is somewhat lacking in supervision. She paints on an easel, and writes on the wall. She puts red paint in her aunt's hair, gets into her mom's makeup and gives haircuts to her dolls (and herself). Her aunt wakes up before Mom gets home and the two of them clean up everything, including Tessy. Her aunt leaves with stripes in her hair and a sock stuck on the seat of her pants.

The book is written in rhyme which makes it fun to read. The illustations are cute. Mom is cute and fit in her exercise clothes; Aunt Fran is somewhat more generously proportioned.

Besides being a cute read, this book supports a good cause. The author, Leah Orr, is the mother of a child with cystic fibrosis. Portions of the proceeds from this book support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. You can read more on the author's website.
