2009 Favorite Reads

I was going to write a top 10  post, but when I reviewed my list of 2009 reads and opened the posts on the books I remembered loving, I only got six.  That isn't to say I only enjoyed seven books last year; rather when I looked at the list with an eye toward the extraordinary, these were the ones that I picked-and I figured that if I didn't remember the others as being exceptionally good, they must not be in the same category as these. They are listed in no particular order:

The Note (Women of Faith Fiction) was a quick easy read but it touched something in me.  Here is my review.

Sugar Daddy is a mass-market romance and while it may not be normal to enjoy both Christian fiction and trashy romances, I do.  As my review notes, this is better written than most.

Blue-Eyed Devil is the sequel to Sugar Daddy, and as noted in my review, it deals with domestic violence.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Random House Reader's Circle) was probably the best book I read all year.  Here is my review.

The Passion of Mary-Margaret I spent more time in my review saying what I didn't like than what I did, but I did love the book, and it got me started reading Lisa Samson's books.

June Bug was another one of those books that has stayed with me.  See my review.

Silver Birches: A Novel, This was one of the few book in which I considered the writing to be extraordinary.  I haven't seen many other posts on it, but do yourself a favor and try it.  My review is here.
