Mama Buzz: CoverMate--Review and Giveaway

Tonight I got a package of CoverMates in the mail.  Taking them out of the package and examining them, they look kind of like plastic shower caps.  Basically, you put them over dishes of food before storing or transporting.   They are designed to be microwavable and dishwasher safe.

We used the first one when we cleaned up after dinner.  Rather than putting the leftovers in a clean plastic bowl with a snapping lid, I took the CoverMate (the package contains three sizes, plus a "free" small can cover), and placed it over the serving plate.  It went over the plate, and gathered on the bottom.  While the seal was not as tight was I'd get with plastic wrap, or as water-tight as the plastic dish with the snap top lid, I didn't have to dirty another dish to put the leftovers away.

CoverMates are advertised at being reusable.  When I first saw the product, my thought was "sure, reusable like aluminum foil--not by normal people", but an email I got in connection with the tour said how to wash them--1. Turn your CoverMate Food Cover inside out: 2. Put on the back of a clean plate: 3. Place in dishwasher to clean and dry!  I tried it, and I have to say, it is like washing plastic bags.  The CoverMates on the back of the plate ended up with water from the dishwasher between them and the plate.
