Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

Hope everyone had a great week.  I'd like to ask for prayers for all those who are going to be hurt by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  My husband sells seafood, so we aren't sure how it is going to affect us.  His company has products from all over the world, so we doubt is is a disaster for them, but it will surely hurt, and things were just getting back to the pre-Katrina levels for them. There are so many people whose livelihood is directly connected to the health of the water--fisherman, those who service fisherman, those who pack seafood, some tourist attractions and more.  Of course we need to pray for those who lost their lives on that rig and for their families.

This week I reviewed a charming children's book that points out that in many ways all families are alike, no matter where they live.  All welcome a new baby and God takes care of that new baby.

What about you?  What did you blog about this week?

Sunday Snippets is a chance for Catholic bloggers to share their posts with each other.  It doesn't matter if you blog exclusively about things Catholic or whether, like me, it pops up periodically, if you are Catholic you are welcome to join us.  If you'd like a weekly reminder to post, join our yahoo group.

To participate, go to your blog and create a post titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  In it, highlight one or more of your posts this week.  Also, include a link back here.  Then, come back here and sign Mr. Linky, giving a link to your Sunday Snippets post.

Something new I'm going to try is once a month or so, I'm going to post a blog post topic.  Sometime in the next week, I'd like you to blog about this topic.  Then, next week I'd like one of the posts you mention in your  Sunday Snippets post to be that one.

Our topic of the month is:  The Rosary:  What does it mean to you?  Do you like to say it?  Hate it? Ignore it?  Love it?  Have you read any great books about it?  Next week, let one of your posts talk about the rosary, so we can get a bunch of different perspectives on the ancient prayer.

  1. Most days I might pray the rosary once but on Thursdays I usually have occasion to pray it three times, once in church and twice in the car driving to and fro. So on Thursdays, I do the full cycle of mysteries. I don't do the Luminous Mysteries ever, even though I don't have any objection to them and actually think they are quite good things to think about.

The book that I have read and liked very much was by Garry Wills, The Rosary. Just a very well-grounded book.

    Thanks for hosting.

  2. Not sure if it's appropriate to post a non-rosary link...but my most recent post is a personal retrospective on the First Twentieth Century. Most of my posts are about teaching Catechism, but occasionally I have to get something else out of my system.

  3. The idea of asking for a topic to be covered by participants is really good. I'm looking forward to what my fellow bloggers have to say about the Rosary.

Sorry RAnn. I still haven't gotten this posting thing down right and trying hard just made it worse.
