Review: Mary Connealy's Sophie's Daughters Series

Doctor in Petticoats (Sophie's Daughters)Wrangler in Petticoats (Sophie's Daughters)Sharpshooter in Petticoats (Sophie's Daughters)

While these three books are all part of the same series by Mary Connealy, I've only read Wrangler in Petticoats.  Like other Connealy books I've read, it is a Western romance featuring a somewhat unconventional heroine.  In this case, the heroine, Sally, grew up following her father around a ranch and trying to be the son he never had.  She's on her way to visit her sister, who is about to have a baby, when her party is ambushed.  All are killed but her, and she is rescued by Logan, an artist who is somewhat lacking in what she considers to be common sense and survival skills. The bad guys come after her.  Guess what happens?

Connealy's book remind me of melodramas.  The good people are every so good, the bad are horrible with no redeeming features.  There is shooting.  The good guys win in the end.  They are Christian, but only in the lightest sense.  In short, they are fun diverting reads that won't tempt you to think too deeply.  Grade:  B

I'd like the thank the publisher for making galley copies available to me via Net Galley.
