Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

I'd like to welcome everyone to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other.  To particpate, go to your blog and create an entry titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  In it, highlight one or more of your posts from the past week that you believe would be of interest to Catholic bloggers---whether they are posts reflecting on spiritual matters or posts about antics of Catholic kids, or anything in between.  Come back here and enter the URL of that post below.  Finally, go visit other participants, and leave comments!  If you want a weekly reminder to post, join our yahoogroup.

Another week in which real life has gotten in the way of blogging and books.  I did a Top Ten Tuesday post listing the top ten books I read this year. I also reviewed a book about Digital Photography.

After due consideration, I've decided that this meme will take a break next week.  I wish all of you and all of yours a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year and pray that the Savior whose birth we celebrate blesses all of you.

  1. Have a happy and holy Christmas, RAnn!

This week our art, music and poetry all reflected Our Lady of Guadalupe.

I reviewed a book about Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt's marriage and posted about Hildegard von Bingen becoming a saint and a Doctor of the Church!

  5. Merry Christmas everyone!
    Thanks for hosting, RAnn.
You will notice that there are
two posts with the title, "New Picture in My Collection." These are two separate posts about two separate pictures.
I've also shared a column from Fr. Frank Pavone, and blogged about:
    The Bible
    My cat
    My Vintage Media Collection
    Another change to my blog
    A humorous card
    How the "Gratitude Attitude" Game
    helps to counteract worry
How I plan to emulate Johnny Malone
and, of course, the books I read this past week!

  6. Merry Christmas to all! Thank you again, hostess RAnn!

Lisa Graas asked me to guest-post on her blog, expecting me only to link to my stuff. That seemed like cheating to me, so I now write for three blogs: Outside the Asylum, Impractical Catholic and Catholic Bandita.

Outside the Asylum: "Tim Tebow and 'Christian incrementalism' — A case of satire almost writing itself.
The Impractical Catholic: "Fruere in hodiernum diem" — In which I reflect on the prophet (Billy) Joel's words, "You know the good old days weren't always good /And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems."
Catholic Bandita — "The elephant who came for Christmas" — In which I reflect on grief and the four months since my brother Bob's passing.

    Again, have a wonderful week!

  7. @ Rochelle: I like how your comment reads ... it's almost like an extended haiku.

  9. Plutarch, Cicero, and Vergil, lesbian comics in college, the beauty of language, and the loneliness of the modernity...all that and more in this week's posts.

A blessed remainder of Advent and a blessed Christmas to everyone. Thanks for hosting us all each week, RAnn!
