Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

Hello, and welcome to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other. To participate, go to your blog and create a post titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. In it, discuss and link to your posts for the week--whether they deal with theology, Catholic living or cute Catholic kids. I'm mostly a book blogger so my posts are generally book reviews, some Catholic, some not. Make sure that post links back here. Once you publish it, come back here and leave a link below.

I'd like to wish all the dads happy Father's Day.  This post  is up a little later than  usual because my family celebrated Father's Day today; my brother and sister who live in Georgia joined us at my dad and brother's (their back yards meet) house today and we had boiled shrimp and other goodies.

Tomorrow my older daughter and I are heading out on a road trip around the state to tour colleges--five colleges in three days if things go right.  Prayers for safety would be appreciated.

I published three book reviews this week.  Waiting for Sunrise is the story of a woman with a past--and a husband who loves her.  Anniversary Waltz is a romance set just after WWII.  If good food is your thing, check out the Taste of Home Cooking School Cookbook.

I'm glad you are here and if you'd like a weekly reminder to post, join our yahoogroup.

  6. Praying you both have a fun, safe and profitable three days!

Most notable this week is a book review of Sons of Cain, a prayer to the Father and my take on the "Catholic view of Alcohol."

  7. Praying for a safe and happy trip for you two and the blessing of good discernment.

This year is the fiftieth since the Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing graduated my 1962 class. There's been lots of happy celebrating with a great reunion turnout in NYC.

Our Alumnae News however included an article on the beginning of Planned Parenthood and a Sinai connection. I shared my response in a post this week.

  8. Thanks for hosting week after week, RAnn!
I'm praying that you and your daughter will
    have a safe, enjoyable trip.
This week, I've blogged about St. Anthony, (is anyone surprised?) including my annual reposting of "My Friend Tony" and a homily from EWTN,
shared updates to my collections, posted a link to a story by Maria Edgeworth, and, of course, shared my weekly book list.

  9. Hi RAnn, I haven't joined in for awhile but I'm happy to be back! Joining you in prayer for safe travels while visiting colleges with your daughter.

I blogged about two link ups I shared on my blog. The first is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and then the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary that we just celebrated in the liturgical year.

  11. Pope Pius XI's 1929 encyclical Divini Illius Magistri provides material for two more posts on Christian education, highlighting the rights of the Church and the family in this sphere of life. There is also a post looking at purpose in suffering through the lives of two theoretical physicists at the beginning of the last century.

Thanks to all the readers out there, and Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads!
