Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

Hello, and welcome to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other. To participate, go to your blog and create a post titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. In it, discuss and link to your posts for the week--whether they deal with theology, Catholic living or cute Catholic kids. I'm mostly a book blogger so my posts are generally book reviews, some Catholic, some not. Make sure that post links back here. Once you publish it, come back here and leave a link below.

We also have a yahoogroup; signing up for it will get you one weekly reminder to post. Click here to sign up.

Question of the week:  Yes, we are back to questions of the week.  If you check the tab on top you'll see that I have drafted questions for the rest of the year and given credit to those who inspired them.  This week's question:
What was the biggest change in your life recently? (adapted from Rochelle)
My answer:  I guess the biggest change lately was sending my daughter off to college.  I'm so proud of her, so glad she has been able to go to the college of her choice on a generous scholarship, so proud she is making good grades....but I miss her smile and seeing her on the couch with her electronic toys when I head to bed.

I reviewed three romance novels this week but nothing the could be considered the least bit Catholic.

I echo Colleen's word of thanks! I'm glad to be joining you all again for Sunday Snippets. The biggest recent change for me? I guess it's that I'm back to the job search again. Prayers needed!

  2. Thanks for hosting, RAnn!
My biggest change, like Colleen's, was moving. Mom and I moved from Brooklyn to Ronkonkoma. Mom is now living with Kathryn and Pauly (we stayed with them during Superstorm Sandy, but the storm had nothing to do with our moving.) Winky and I have our own place. It's much smaller than our old house, but at last I'm in my own place. It's not far from a railroad station and an airport, so there are airplanes flying overhead fairly often. And just now I heard a train whistle.
And when it snows here, it looks so beautiful.
But there is a down side, too. I miss Brooklyn.
As for what I posted this week... not much. Just my Throwback Thursday, my Fan Fiction, and my book list.
I was rather busy this week, setting up my Wayback Book Club in several places (so that more people can find it.) I also have a blog so that information can be shared from one location to another; members' names, except for mine, are not shown on the blog. So far, one person has joined; a cousin of mine.
Naturally, everyone reading this comment is welcome!

Wow! This comment could almost be a blog post in its own right! Did I say almost?

  6. Hm...the biggest change. I helped to start up a Moms & Kids ministry at our parish, and am loving every second of it! It fosters a wonderful friendship between us moms, and gives us a chance to celebrate our faith with our kids as well.

  7. Last year was a big year for me. Found out I had a chronic disease ( and also learned how to manage it very well without meds). Also found out about the lies and deception of one son who also made me a grandmother, and having all of the three oldest cohabitating with young women. I still have the winds knocked out of my sails!

  8. Always look forward to this on Sundays. I read most of the postings.

New to me? Inviting the family (5 girls) of a deployed chaplain to a weekly dinner. My husband has found them to be delightful. Much to my surprise, she is seriously considering converting because of JP II of Theology of the Body. Gives me a serious place to start with my daughter in law. I would LOVE to have an entirely Catholic family :) God works in mysterious ways.
Ps- Amazon has announced they are launching a Christian publishing company.

Oh, boy, your question/answer caused me to tear up a bit. (: 2013 was filled with changes for me--or growing pains, I suppose. My eldest child’s move out (to begin college also) was much more emotional for me than I ever anticipated. [& I miss our cup of tea together each night, when the boys would already be asleep!] My 2nd child started high school at this same time, and my husband’s schedule completely changed, too [which means I see him less than I was used to]. Plus, a problem with my neck then (and still now) will no longer allow me to do certain things that I had enjoyed doing. And our dog (that we got when the kids were still little) died as well! God is so sweet, though… Helping & guiding me all the way. God bless all.
