Blog Tour and Review: The Jewel of His Heart
About the Book:
Their future is as wide open as the Montana sky.
Juliana Brady is alone in an 1890s Montana mining town, with few prospects for making a living. But she is determined not to be dependent on the charity of others.
Josh McBride is trying to scrape up a living from his sheep herd while he builds his ranch. But when he discovers some rare stones on his property, he's tempted by the prospect of fast money.
When their paths cross, Juliana and Josh must make a choice--the world's riches and promises, or the eternal value of love.
My Thoughts:
I read 68 pages of this book, and had no interest in reading more. It is a romance, so I already know how it ends, the fun is supposed to be in getting there. Something about the writing style turned me off immediately. It just seemed overdone; too much explanation, too many superlatives--it is hard to explain. In any case, I wasn't enjoying the read so I quit. If you read the book and wrote a review, I'd love for you to add your name to Mr. Linky so other folks can get more than one opinion about the book.
Available October 2009 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
To Purchase from Amazon: Jewel of His Heart, The: A Novel (Heart of the West)
WOW! Ruth, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy "Jewel"! I guess it's not for everyone, but I loved it! I posted the link to my review with Mister Linky...
ReplyDeleteThanks,

This one was disappointing. I enjoyed the historical aspect of it, but most of it just seemed forced. I did finish it, but really didn't care for the characters at all. It's nice to know I wasn't the only one!!
