Mailbox Monday

Hi! How is everyone doing? I always look forward to Mondays and seeing what everyone is getting/reading. Here is what I got this week:

Hurricane Katrina hit four years ago and I've spent a lot of hours at work dealing with the aftermath, defending lawsuits against insurance companies and working on cases which had Katrina at their center. The author of the The Broken Road writes about Katrina recovery in an area southwest of here and what he finds is a lot of corruption. Broken Road should be an interesting read. The author, Keifer Bonvillian, send me a complimentary review copy, via Bostick.

I have started Can God Be Trusted and so far I'm enjoying it. The author, Fr.Thomas D. Williams, begins by talking about trust in general and how we as humans have a need to trust others, even though our society tells us not to do so. He points out that the first sin came about because Satan convinced Eve not to trust God. My complimentary copy was received from Hatchette, and they are offering free copies to five of my readers. Enter my giveaway.

Finally, from The Catholic Company, I received a complimentary copy of Come and See. Come and See Catholic Bible Study Wisdom covers the wisdom literature of the bible found in the Old Testament -- Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the Song of Solomon, Wisdom and Sirach. This study uses modern study tools -- inductive and deductive learning, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the writings of popes and saints—to unlock an ancient treasure and show its current application.

That's it for this week, but while you are here, enter my giveaway for Dr. Sanjay Gupta's Cheating Death.

Thanks to Marcia at The Printed Page for hosting. Stop by and see what everyone got this week.

  4. Neat Mailbox! I love the cover of Come And See - it reminds me of the movie about Ruth, which is one of my favorites.
