Monday Memes

Monday is the day book bloggers brag about their new acquisitions (See other Mailbox Monday entries here) and let others know what they have read and plan to read (See It's Monday What Are You Reading).

My mailbox got two books this week:
Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist: Unlocking the Secrets of the Last SupperJesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist: Unlocking the Secrets of the Last Supper is for a First Wildcard tour.  I heard the author speak a couple of years ago so I'm looking forward to reading it.
The Mountains Bow Down (A Raleigh Harmon Novel)The Mountains Bow Down (A Raleigh Harmon Novel) I loved Giorello's previous book, The Clouds Roll Away so I jumped at the chance to read this one.  It kept me on the treadmill for 50 minutes tonite, so I'd say so far, so good.

My email box was also full of free Amzaon downloads for my Kindle
After the Leaves FallAfter the Leaves Fall I liked Baart's writing when I read The Moment Between (my review) so I'm looking forward to this.
ListenListen  I was free; I thought I'd at least download it

Wading Home: A Novel of New OrleansWading Home: A Novel of New Orleans What New Orleanean wouldn't want to read more about Katrina?
Candle in the Darkness (Refiner's Fire, Book 1)Candle in the Darkness (Refiner's Fire, Book 1)  I've been wanting to read something by Austin.
I Love You This MuchI Love You This Much I got this for my youngest but somehow it isn't quite the same as a black and white Kindle download.

As far as what I read this week,
Already HomeAlready Home is somewhat women's fiction, somewhat romance, but a really enjoyable read.  I got it via Net Galley and will publish a review in March, closer to the time when it will be published.
Lady in the Mist: A Novel (The Midwives)Lady in the Mist: A Novel (The Midwives) was my treadmill book this week, and I gave up on it.  I can't pinpoint why I don't like it, but it just never grabbed me.

As far as what's up next, well I'm still working on The Mountains Bow Down (A Raleigh Harmon Novel) and I've started Driftwood Cottage (Chesapeake Shores)Driftwood Cottage (Chesapeake Shores) which I got via NetGalley.  I also need to read Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist: Unlocking the Secrets of the Last Supper for a tour next week.  That should keep me busy.

  3. Hi RAnn,

So far I have managed to hold out against the 'Kindle' revolution, but I guess it will only be a matter of time.

You have some fantastic titles, in an enviably full mailbox and to be honest, I haven't read any of them.

If I had to make a selection from your list, I think it would have to be 'The Mountains Bow Down'. I have never come across Sibella Giorello before, but I love the sound of the synopsis. A good recommendation for more my burgeoning TBR list, thanks.

  17. Lynn Austin's Refiner's Fire series is one of my most favorites. I absolutely loved all three books.

I read Lady in the Mist too and I've been having a hard time writing my review. I finished it, but I can't say that I loved it.
