Faith n Fiction Saturday
Amy's question this week is:
Have you ever read a book and been completely surprised by it? Was it either better than you were expecting, moving in ways you didn't expect, more captivating than you thought, or totally different from what you thought it would be about?
Yes, though it is hard to think of particular examples. The best I can come up with without a lot of thinking and research is Anne Rice's books about Jesus. I would never have picked them up in a bookstore after having read some of her earlier work. I would have just assumed they were at least close kin to blasphemey, but Sr. Julia recommended Out of Egypt so I gave it a try and really liked it.
Since I'm too old for assigned reading, I don't generally pick up books I don't at least think I'm going to like, so my surprise if you want to call it that is that I don't like some of them.

That always makes me feel gipped! Thank goodness, it doesn't happen often. Happy Faith ‘n Fiction Day. Here’s my answer:

I admit that I'm often more disappointed than pleasantly surprised too. Though there are some authors that I can pretty be certain I'll have a good read.
ReplyDeleteI have heard good things about this series as well.
ReplyDeleteI have been very hesitant to read the Rice books, but I may give them a try at some point!
