Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

I'd like to welcome everyone to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other.  To particpate, go to your blog and create an entry titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  In it, highlight one or more of your posts from the past week that you believe would be of interest to Catholic bloggers---whether they are posts reflecting on spiritual matters or posts about antics of Catholic kids, or anything in between.  Come back here and enter the URL of that post below.  Finally, go visit other participants, and leave comments!  If you want a weekly reminder to post, join our yahoogroup.

I'd like to wish everyone a happy Independence Day.  Do you have any plans?  My teen daughter is in Florida with friends.  My husband and I got together this afternoon with a group of folks with whom he was friends in college.  Tomorrow we are going to my dad's house, and probably to the beach over there.

For your reading pleasure this week, I have a book review of Wholly Mary Mother of God.  I also reviewed a kids' book about Hurricane Katrina.  I had a rant about high schools today  and reviewed a book about Jesus' friend Martha.   I also reviewed a couple of romances.

What about you?

  1. We're probably going to a car show and fireworks on Monday for the 4th.

This week I talked about finding your prayer style, Lego street art, PTSD, a George Elliott poem and the radical love of the Sacred Heart.

    Have a great week!

  2. Not much posting this week. My eldest ds is away working at Scout camp and my youngest ds leaves for Scout camp tomorrow. But a neighbor/friend from church is having a BBQ tomorrow so that's about the extent of our weekend - it will definitely be fun

  3. I've been joyfully engaging in your hop the last few weeks~thank you very much!

How would it be if I made you a button for your Sunday Snippets hop. I could use the photo that you post each time. If you have a button with the textbox underneath people could put the button on their posts and it would automatically link back to your hop. What do you say? It would be my gift. Let me know and I'll get on it.

    God bless...

  4. The most recent post, Alice Meat, is a Corpus Christi article.

The second, Flow States, isn't about anything Catholic. But it has a picture of a church...although it isn't Catholic.

    Your mileage may vary.

Also check out the new photo header of two of my kids from 18 years ago.

  5. My feature piece is on the collapse of traditional marriage, but I have a couple of experimental "overheard conversations" that I'm testing out for reactions. I'm looking for something that will give me a lighter voice, something that brings out more of my sense of humor (yes, folks, I do indeed have one!). Come read "Overheard at a Denny's" I and II and tell me what you think!

Thanks again for being our host, RAnn!

  6. Happy 4th to you, too RAnn (and everyone else, too!). Thanks, as always, for hosting this so faithfully!

My most notable post for this week is about ways I am finding joy and also a fun ice cream cake "fake-out" that's really good!

    Blessings.

  7. Thank you RAnn, dear host.

Missed being here. Getting online has been challenging so my blog is sparse.

Happy 4th all! God bless the USA!

  9. Thanks once again for hosting, RAnn.
This week, I've blogged about the Pope, my introduction to the "All-Of-A-Kind Family" books, and my online
collection. And, as always, I've posted my list of books read in the past week (including two of the aforementioned "All-Of-A-Kind Family" books!)

  11. Sorry, no time for a new post today. Produced one new poem last week. The poem is not thematically Catholic, but, as Tolkein said about LOTR, it wouldn't have been written if I wasn't Catholic.

  12. My contribution this week is about an evening - or a partial evening - spent at a Catholic tent revival.

Thanks for hosting. I'll be reading all the contributions!
