From My Reader

I haven't checked my Google Reader in a few days so I'm sure it is stuffed--yup, 517 posts. Well, I still have 20 minutes left on my lunch break, so let's see what looks interesting today.

Catholic Mom is giving away a children's book about the childhood of John Paul II.

How about some oatmeal cookies a la Starbucks?

If you need something to bring to a cookie exchange, here are ideas.

Lots of folks have reviewed Hunger Games; Caite's caught my eye.

I love Christmas music. Make Use Of tells us were we can listen to free Christmas music online

Make Use Of reviews Book Rix, another social network for readers and authors.

My waist is small compared to my hips, which makes it hard to find pants that fit. Elena linked to a site with a trick I'm going to have to try.

Lunchtime is about over and I only have 474 more posts in my reader.

From My Reader

I haven't done this for a while, and my reader has lots of posts, so let's see what catches my eye tonight:

MakeUseOf has an article about CosmoLearning, a website devoted to online learning, developed by a couple of teenagers with content for students and educators alike.

Catholic Mom has an article about having a spiritual Advent.

Eating out wit kids can be expensive, or it can be free (at least the kids' food). MakeUseOf tells you how.

Tonite is a MakeUseOf night. They also have an article about teaching object oriented computer programming to kids. My son who wants to design video games will be sent this link.

Do you like Starbucks apple cider? Here is how to make your own.

Are Christmas romances your thing? Enter Bingo's contest for a free book of three of them.

Our lives are recorded by newspapers, so they are an interesting historical source. Resource Shelf tells us where to find them.

If there is a cook on your Christmas list, Taste Of Home Cookbooks are only $5.00 (usually about $25.00)

I like homemade bread and rolls, but the rising time get me. These buns can be on the table in an hour.

From My Reader

Kaye has a new meme I think I'll try.
My dh keeps buying pork chops; this sounds like a good recipe and it uses the crockpot. This one is a casserole.
Lots of kids' books giveaways here; now if I can just find the time to enter them.
I'll have to try this white bread in the bread machine.
Here are some oatmeal bars you make in the microwave.

This coming week is Book Blogger Awareness Week. It is the brainchild of Amy at My Friend Amy and has turned into a huge project and she and her crew have evidently earned their share of folk's ire. Please go by and thank her for her hard work. For a little BBAW humor, help Michele decide what to wear to the awards.

If you are into podcasts, here is one:"Can You Be Catholic and Evangelical?".

From My Reader

Now that I have lots and lots of feeds in my reader, I "get" it. I understand what's so great about it, and now I want to share some of my finds with you. Do you like these posts? Leave a comment and let me know.

My dad is a geneologist so I sent him a link to this Resource Shelf post.

This Resource Shelf post has to do with Educational Resources

Finding reading material on the right level can by hard but Resource Shelf found something to make it easier.

I used to subscribe to Taste of Home magazine, but realized that I spent more time reading it than cooking. Anyway, they have an RSS feed now and this Blueberry Brunch Bake looks good.
This Potato Casserole is testament to the idea that potatoes aren't fattening, its what you put on them that is. I love barley. I wonder if this would be without the nuts (my kids won't eat nuts). Does Potato Onion Soup sound good? Beef Barley Soup isn't original, but it is good.

If you like contests and giveaway, 5 minutes for Mom has quite a list of them. If you are trying to get kids' books, check out Brimful Curiosities.

Well, I got through over 500 posts tonite, hope you enjoy these gems as much as I did.

From My Reader

Yup, I'm back to plowing through all those posts on my Google Reader, so I thought I'd share some of the 1000 (yes, like in one thousand)+ unread posts with you.

I started off reading Makeuseof.com which is newly added to my list. They run a "Cool Websites and Tools" feature regularly and I'd like to re-share some they list:

As would be expected for a book blogger who reads book blogs, I found some books I want to read:

Since my poor five year old doesn't have enough books, I'm going to try to win her some more. Brimful Curiosities has a list of contests.

Finally, since chocolate is always a good Publish Postthink, I'll send you over to Frugal Creativity for her link to Hershey Chocolate.

Now I'm down to 598 unread posts....but I've read some of them live--like your blog.
