There are two spiritual components to the First Place 4 Health program: prayer and Bible Study. This chaper is about Bible Study. She gives some suggestions on how to get started, and in the end of chapter summary says "Being overweight is a fleshly problem with a spiritual solution. Change begins when you start ingesting truth into your life; and it is God who is the ultimate source of all truth. With Him, your life will be balanced, and your weight issues will be addressed in lasting ways".
I guess I see this as a little bit along the lines of saying "If your spiritual house was in order you wouldn't commit the sins of gluttony or sloth and therefore you wouldn't have a weight problem.". I'm certainly not saying that there is anything wrong with Bible study or that God can't help us improve our lives. However I'm also hesitant to chalk everyone's weight problems up to a lack in their spiritual lives, if that makes any sense--not that any of us have perfect spiritual lives.
