Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

Hello, and welcome to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other. To participate, go to your blog and create a post titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. In it, discuss and   link to your posts for the week--whether they deal with theology, Catholic living or cute Catholic kids. I'm mostly a book blogger so my posts are generally book reviews, some Catholic, some not. Make sure that post links back here; some folks are forgetting that! Once you publish it, come back here and leave a link below.

We also have a yahoogroup; signing up for it will get you one weekly reminder to post.  Click here to sign up.

This is the first week of our new feature--a question of the week.  If you are wondering about future questions, they are listed on a page linked on my header.  This week's question is:  Introduce yourself. Some of us have been participating for a long time; others are relative newcomers. Take a minute and briefly tell us about yourself and your blog.

Next week's question for those who like to plan ahead:  What is your favorite hymn that you hear/sing at Mass?

You can click here to submit a question to use once my current list runs dry.

To answer my own question, I'm the married mother of three and I live in suburban New Orleans.  My son is 21 and on the autism spectrum, my 17 year old daughter starts next week at Northwestern State University of Louisiana and my 9 year old is a student at our parish school.  I'm active in Girl Scouts, I serve on my parish school board and I'm a lector at Mass.  I love to travel and read.  I like to cook.  I work fulltime as a paralegal and my caseload includes both car accident and criminal defense.  I've been blogging since 2005 and have been a pretty serious book blogger since 2007.  I like trashy romances and religious fiction.  I don't generally read things that take a lot of concentration of mind engagement.

So, on to my Sunday Snippets.  Thursday was a Holy Day.  In its honor, I wrote about priorities and I realize that what I have to say may get me struck by lightning.  My Seven Quick Takes this week are about back-to-school.  As I noted in my introduction, I'm mostly a book blogger.  I don't have any Catholic book reviews this week, but you can see a couple of upcoming ones on my Monday Memes post.  On the book blogging front, I also participated in the Book Blogger Hop.  I have three book reviews this week:  Good Neighbors is a free clean romance.  My New Orleans Gone Away is a memoir.  I guess you'd call Rivers dystopian fiction.  Finally, I'll give you a chance to win a Kindle Fire

  1. Thanks for hosting, RAnn, as always. I enjoyed reading your introduction. I actually forgot to mention anything about my blog in my intro. Duh. I'll have to go amend that.

This week I have my usual weekly goals, a post about Kathleen's Ministry Manifesto, a post about the Assumption of Mary and a review of the book "Letters to Katie."

  2. Thanks for the opportunity to introduce ourselves! I'm a recent stay at home mom and blog at Enter Under My Roof, a Catholic projects site focused on ways to celebrate Marriage & Family Life in the home (and based around the liturgical year calendar).

  3. I'm a longtime Bible-Belt catechist who wants every kid in my class to stay Catholic because he or she learns that Catholicism is a Bible religion.

  4. Thanks for hosting, RAnn. I can see why you like books that are on the lighter side. With your job and all your other responsibilities you need some fun. I like the question of the week idea.

  5. Thanks for hosting.

I blogged about a lecture series I attended last week on the topic of "America after Christendom: the Hardest Mission Field," by Dr. Darrell Guder of Princeton Theological Seminary
