Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

I'd like to welcome everyone to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other.  To particpate, go to your blog and create an entry titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival.  In it, highlight one or more of your posts from the past week that you believe would be of interest to Catholic bloggers---whether they are posts reflecting on spiritual matters or posts about antics of Catholic kids, or anything in between.  Come back here and enter the URL of that post into Mr. Linky.  Finally, go visit other participants, and leave comments!  If you want a weekly reminder to post, join our yahoogroup.

Generally on Sunday Snippets, we link to our own posts.  However, this week, I'd like to offer you a link to a post by a friend.  Her mother is dying of cancer, so first of all, I ask that you keep her in your prayers.  Secondly, read her post on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.

As for me, this week  I reviewed a book looking a Jesus' Jewish roots.  I also reviewed a few other books that had little to do with religion, so feel free to poke around a little while you are here.

  1. The first class on the Mass begins with the Liturgy of the Word.

  2. I do not see Mr Linky. I posted this week - I Do Believe; Sabbath Moments, Thankful for Blessings. God bless!

  3. 5th century Greek philosophy, the Koran, Christian schools, public advertisement for immorality, Mozart, and Jesus the Lamb of God. It was an eclectic week at Bedlam or Parnassus!

  4. Hi RAnn, thanks for posting and thanks for the link. I'll pray for your friend and her mother.

  5. Many prayers for your friend's mother.

This week, we had a Lenten Meditation, a painting called Blind Faith, more from Gregory Petrov, and Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring as played on a wooden instrument with a wooden ball.

  6. I am always grateful to God for his insights. This week, he allowed me to enter in to his passion in a unique way.

  7. Zeal has a post this week on the Stages of the Spiritual Life as well as John of the Cross' thoughts on the Gaze of God. Both appropos to beginning Passiontide, I guess!

  8. I will definitely pray for your friend's mother.

I also asked for prayers this week for my cousin's wife whose cancer has spread to her brain.

  13. Praying with you all.

  14. Hi RAnn, I prayed for your friend and her Mom at Mass this morning.

Last week you asked: "Those of you who read book reviews, do you like to see bloggers write negative reviews, or do you think we should just pass on writing about books we don't like?" I wrote an answer in the comments section but it never showed up so I want to answer it now.

I value your reviews and you do a great job of saying why you think a book is good or if it has problems, especially from a Catholic viewpoint. This is valuable to me because I don't want to waste time on a book that has problems regarding Catholic teaching or is, in a literary sense, sub-par. Since finances are a challenge to us, I often get books on inter-library loan and your reviews point me in directions I want to go. So keep up the good work. Everything you do to help fellow Catholics sows seeds of goodness for the Church.

  15. Thanks for hosting, RAnn!!

    As always, Lenten blessings!
