Booking Mama: Giveaway: In the Land of Invisible Women

We lived in Turkey for two years when I was a kid. Even though it was (and still is) a Muslim country, I see more headscarves here today in suburban New Orleans than I ever saw in Izmir in the 1960's. What has always struck me as amazing is reading that often, it is the women themselves who choose to veil; it is not something thier husbands or parents require them to do.

I just ran across a book giveaway that seems to paint a much less benign picture of life behind the veil: Booking Mama: Giveaway: In the Land of Invisible Women If the topic interests you, why not drop over and take a look?
