Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival

Hello, and welcome to Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. We are a group of Catholic bloggers who gather weekly to share our best posts with each other. To participate, go to your blog and create a post titled Sunday Snippets--A Catholic Carnival. In it, discuss and link to your posts for the week--whether they deal with theology, Catholic living or cute Catholic kids. I'm mostly a book blogger so my posts are generally book reviews, some Catholic, some not. Make sure that post links back here. Once you publish it, come back here and leave a link below.

We also have a yahoogroup; signing up for it will get you one weekly reminder to post. Click here to sign up.

Question of the Week: What did you do on your summer vacation?

My Answer:  Wow, it is hard to believe summer is over already.  It was pretty laid back around here.  I took a couple of trips to Mississippi to go the beach and to start to go through my parents' house.  That job has barely been started; we joke that some families fight over who gets stuff; we are fighting over who has to deal with it.  My youngest and I went to Savannah with the Girl Scouts, which was a lot of fun, and last week my family went to Disney World, which was hot, crowded and expensive.  I don't expect to go again.

This week on my blog I reviewed a non-religious book about a marriage and included a little Eucharistic theology in the review.  I reviewed a book about the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

I had two posts about my latest investment craze:  How to Sell Notes on Lending Club and Lending Club, One Month Later.

Finally, I offer you a chance to win a cookbook.

  1. Thanks for hosting, RAnn!
This week, I have the latest addition to my Rosary Art Collection,
a post about how I got started writing fan fiction, a beautiful article about Mother Angelica, a great cartoon posted on Facebook by Fr. Frank Pavone, this week's fan fiction, and, of course, my book list.

  2. RAnn, thanks for hosting. God bless.

  3. Thanks for hosting, RAnn!

I haven't done much blogging lately, but I have three book reviews up, "The Paleo Manifesto," "Jonah and the Great Big Fish," and "How to Answer Your Kid's Toughest Questions," and a post about the Assumption fo Mary.

  4. I had the best vacation ever visiting my sister in northern Michigan during the cherry festival. Who knew there were such things as cherry salsa, cherry apple cider, and all sorts of cherry cookies and ice creams? And I only gained .4 lbs.! The weather was cool and dry and the day we went kayaking down the Platte River the water was warmer than the air. Made for some great views of steam rising. I want to go back and play some more!

  5. This summer was very different because all four children were in eight weeks of day camp. One of those week's I spent teaching the science portion of Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the first time ever. It was alright but I told the coordinator that I wouldn't be heartbroken if they get by without me next summer.

I've only been to the beach twice and we haven't gone as a family yet (planning to tomorrow morning). That's also very different because we usually go weekly if not twice a week.

    Thanks for hosting

  6. I visited my son twice, but didn't get away too much because my mother is ill and we are taking care of her.

I usually visit my sisters in Maryland and go to the beach.

I mostly read books and blogged.

    Have a wonderful Sunday.
